Lao Tzu on the constant change of existence

Sometimes we go through a good time, sometimes a bad one. But what we should never forget is that neither the good nor the bad will last forever. It is important to keep in mind that everything in this life is in permanent change.

A fierce wind does not last all morning; a sudden rain does not last all day.

- Lao Tzu

In this article, we will take a closer look at Lao Tzu's quote. First, I will try to explain the first part of his quote in detail, then accordingly the second part of the quote.

A fierce wind does not last all morning. Even if it storms once a whole morning, it is never the case that it is always the same wind. Sometimes the wind changes direction, sometimes it gets stronger, sometimes weaker. We as humans just tend to see every wind as the same. Not to put it metaphorically; as soon as several bad things happen to us, we assume that bad things happen to us all the time or exclusively. However, it is important to note that we distinguish the winds from each other. If there is also a very stormy or windy phase in our life, we can be sure that it will pass.

So it is important to pay attention to whether we are actually affected by the same wind over a longer period of time or whether it is a new "suffering" in the meantime, but we still see it sweepingly as suffering as a whole.

But as Lao Tzu said, even a violent wind does not last all morning. But if we spend the rest of the day just looking at the trees, trying to interpret the wind in their leaves, we may find that the fierce wind seems to be there longer than it actually is.

Once pinned, never forgotten (:

A sudden rain does not last all day. Anyone who has ever experienced a sudden heavy rain knows that the heavier it rains, the faster it is over again. After all, clouds can not endlessly hold a lot of water and the more it rains down, the faster the rain is also over.

I have discovered for myself that life is not just about waiting for the rain to pass, but learning to dance in the rain. In other words, it's important to know that the rain can't hurt you. The more we fear the rain, the more power we give it over us. Of course, there are situations that you would rather not have in your life, however, those are also usually the situations that we can grow the most from. The ones that shape our character the most.

The most beautiful aspect of the second part of this quote is that rain is life-giving. Without the water that rain regularly gives, no plant would thrive. As the water comes down from the sky, it may appear that the individual drops are violently hitting the plants, but without that very water, all plants would decay.

Just as plants depend on the water of rain, so it is with us humans. If we never come into contact with rain, we would not be able to appreciate sunny days. However, in addition to appreciating, we experience the greatest character development at times when we are challenged.

To summarize the quote again as a whole: Bad times, whether windy or rainy, will pass. Like everything in life, they are temporary, but if we approach them with the right attitude, we can learn from them permanently. Finally, it is true that even the most violent wind does not last all morning, and a sudden rain does not last all day.
