Seneca appreciated the rough side of life

"A gemstone cannot be polished without friction, or a man perfected without testing

Lucius Annaeus Seneca

Just as a rough diamond is already revered. It is the polishing that gives it its true value. Cutting, however, means that you have to remove some of the rough diamond here and there. Since diamonds are known for their hardness, this means that you need a lot of friction to give it the desired shape.

It is also important to remember in our lives that when we are under stress or going through a time of transformation, it is not the end of days.

Only by exposing ourselves to situations that we can grow from can we get our polish.

Imagine you were never confronted with tasks from which you could learn something about yourself. You could never discover your full potential.

I myself don't run through everyday life looking for problems to solve here and there, but when a problem comes into my life, I try to handle it as well and conscientiously as I can. It also helps a lot if you are someone who self-reflects a lot anyway.

Also this beer bottle shine only because it was properly polished.

So the next time you find yourself in a time where life seems difficult and stressful. Try to make the best of your situation and learn as much as you can from it. So that the next time you find yourself in a similar situation, you will already know what to do.

Just as the polished surfaces of precious stones shine, you can also make yourself and your own future shine. However, you have to let yourself be polished here and there by the flow of life.
